Details & registration information for our annual Ministers & Mates Retreat have been sent to each local church, board secretary. Our retreat will take place at the Bridgeport Conference Center in Bridgeport, WV, beginning with dinner on Friday, January 31 and concluding with lunch on Sunday, February 2.
Our guest speaker, Dr. Scott Sherwood is currently the DS of the Northwestern Illinois District where he has served since his election in 2011. Previously he served as an evangelist, youth pastor, lead pastor of Bloomington First COTN (IL), and the Richardson COTN (TX).
Scott holds a BA from Olivet Nazarene University, an M. Div. from NTS, and is currently a Doctor of Ministry candidate through Fuller Seminary. Last year, Olivet conferred on him an honorary doctorate of divinity.
Dr. Sherwood has been active in denominational and community leadership as well. He has been a member of the board of directors of New Church Specialties and currently serves on the USA/Canada Outreach Task Force. Scott has authored daily devotionals in Reflecting God as well as a bonus lesson titled, “Wandering Stars” in Nazarene Publishing House’s Adult Sunday School Quarterly.
Scott’s co-laborer in ministry is his wife, Sherry, a licensed social worker and CEO of Living Alternatives, a network of pregnancy resource centers in Illinois and Indiana. Together they have three daughters, Libby graduated from Olivet in 2019, Madeira and Brooke both of whom currently attend Olivet.
Please review the registration forms carefully. The Retreat Fee is sent to the district office. Housing registration is made directly with the hotel. We've secured a group housing rate with Wingate Hotel that is connected with the conference center.
All ordained elders and district licensed ministers (including elders and licensed ministers serving as staff members) are encouraged to attend.
